PX index falls from record highs

Prague, Oct 7 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange's (BCPP) headline PX index lost 0.82 percent to 2,358.83 points today, falling from Monday's record high, with most of the traded titles closing in the red, according to data from the stock exchange website.

"Profit-taking was evident on the Prague Stock Exchange today after previously breaking records for several days," said Wood & Company broker Hoang Long Le. Total trading volume was about Kc860m, above the long-term average, he said.

Metallurgical firm Gevorkyan firmed the most today, up 5.45 percent to Kc232, while insurance company VIG gained 1.05 percent to Kc1,160. Solar power plant builder Photon Energy and tobacco firm Philip Morris also posted gains.

Banks, on the other hand, did not fare well. Erste Group Bank fell by 1.94 percent to Kc2,075, Moneta Money Bank by 0.80 percent to Kc172.60 and Komercni banka by 0.58 percent to Kc1,035.

Energy group CEZ shares wrote off 1.6 percent to Kc1,290 today.
