Prague bourse weakens, dragged down by banks

Prague, April 9 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) fell today, its headline PX index losin 0.70 percent to 2,605.86 points, dragged down mainly by bank stocks, according to data from the bourse's website.

Shares of defence and engineering group Czechoslovak Group (CSG) fell the most, erasing more than six percent. Like the bank stocks, they were among the most actively traded.

Shares of Komercni banka, Moneta Money Bank, and the CSG Group saw the highest trading volume today. Erste Bank Group ranked fourth in trading volume, while shares of the Colt CZ arms manufacturer ranked fifth. All these companies declined in value today.

Komercni banka wrote off 1.31 percent to CZK1,134, Moneta dropped 0.25 percent to CZK198, and Erste declined by 0.90 percent to CZK2,414. Colt fell by 0.99 percent to CZK998, and CSG slid by 6.47 percent to CZK580.80, marking the sharpest decline among the main issues on the Prague Stock Exchange today.

Most major stocks saw their prices fall or remain flat today. Only four out of a total of 14 rose. The biggest gainer was drone manufacturer Primoco UAV, whose shares firmed by 4.5 percent to CZK928. Shares of the energy company CEZ also grew, gaining 1.28 percent to CZK1,187.
