Prague bourse strongest since last June
Prague, Jan 9 (CTK) - The Prague Stock Exchange (BCPP) has strengthened on every trading day so far this year, seeing its sixth straight rise today, and the PX index increased by 1.73 percent to close at 1,270.96 points, which was the highest value from the end of last June, the bourse said on its website.
Most shares in the index posted gains today, the best performer being Czech bank Komercni banka, the bourse said.
The financial sector firmed notably. Komercni, the most traded listing today, firmed by 4.17 percent to Kc711.50.
"Moneta Money Bank even hit the strongest level from last August," said Wood & Company broker Vladimir Vavra. Moneta shares appreciated by 2.79 percent to Kc81 apiece.
Austria's Erste Bank improved by 0.62 percent to Kc779.80.
Energy group CEZ rose by 2.02 percent to Kc807 despite a reduced recommendation from Morgan Stanley, with the target price down at Kc690 from the previous Kc1,010 per share, said Fio banka broker Josef Dudek.
Arms maker Colt CZ grew 2.13 percent to Kc575.
Pharmacy chain Pilulka Lekarny added 4.0 percent to Kc780.
Soft drinks group Kofola, on the other hand, weakened by 0.79 percent to close at Kc251 per unit.
