Tatra Trucks makes 1,349 vehicles and sells 1,337 in 2025
Koprivnice, North Moravia, Feb 6 (CTK) - Automotive manufacturer Tatra Trucks produced 1,349 vehicles and sold 1,337 last year, compared to 1,522 and 1,548 the year before, but its production output increased and its revenues rose by 5 percent year-on-year, company spokesman Andrej Cirtek told CTK today.
The amount of sales can only be published in the annual report, which will be available sometime in the spring, Cirtek said.
"When we say there was an increase in production, we don't mean the nominal number of vehicles, but that they are more labour-intensive vehicles and to a much greater extent they are equipped with Tatra engines, whose production has increased significantly," Cirtek said. Tatra's total production of its own engines has increased by 150 percent.
"Thanks to a broad product mix dominated by production-intensive, high value-added vehicles, production output increased significantly by 19 percent in 2025," the spokesman said. The year-on-year decline in the number of vehicles produced is due to a change in the methodology for reporting production data, where only fully assembled vehicles are counted from 2025, he added.
Tatra CEO Kristijan Fiket said that last year's increase in production output and sales growth was mainly due to orders for vehicles and chassis for the military and firefighters. "They include a significantly higher share of components of our own production, including Tatra engines. In 2025, the defence sector accounted for the largest part of the vehicles produced, over 1,000 units, which represents an increase of hundreds of vehicles compared to 2024," Fiket said.
Almost 200 vehicles were produced by the company for firefighting and rescue services, while other vehicles were destined for the construction industry, municipal services, mining and agriculture.
"Foreign customers accounted for approximately 61 percent of Tatra's total production in 2025, with the Netherlands, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Austria and Australia among the most important markets, while South Korea and Brazil were among the most exotic destinations for Tatra vehicles last year," Cirtek said.
Tatra Trucks produces both standard trucks and customised special vehicles. Since 2013, Tatra Trucks has been owned by the industrial-technological Czechoslovak Group of billionaire Michal Strnad and the engineering Promet Group of the Matera family. After the change in ownership structure, the company underwent a successful restructuring.
Tatra Trucks employs more than 1,800 people, with over 700 more working for its subsidiary Tatra Metalurgie.
