Colt CZ and Estonian firm to develop technologies against drones
Prague, May 27 (CTK) - Czech arms group Colt CZ Group SE (Colt CZ) and Estonian firm Frankenburg Technologies want to jointly develop technologies against unmanned aerial vehicles, and their representatives signed a memorandum of understanding to that effect at the Estonia-Czechia Business Forum in Tallinn, Colt CZ told CTK.
The companies intend to supply technologies to Ukraine and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) member states.
Frankenburg Technologies is an Estonian-based defence technology company that develops air defence systems. Its cooperation with Colt CZ would help increase the reach of its products in the European defence industry, while Colt CZ, as a regional partner, would be in charge of manufacturing cooperation and distribution, among other things, the press release said.
"Through this partnership, both companies aim to combine Czech industrial capacity with Estonian technological innovation, contributing to stronger European and NATO defence readiness, enhanced security cooperation, and greater resilience against emerging threats," said Ondrej Bohac on behalf of Colt CZ. However, the aim is also to support the air defence of Ukraine, which has been defending itself against Russian aggression since February 2022, he said.
Frankenburg Technologies' missile systems would be imported to the Czech Republic and Slovakia under the memorandum. The partnership also includes joint development of export and marketing opportunities in third country markets, according to Colt CZ.
Colt CZ is a leading global manufacturer of firearms, ammunition and energetic nitrocellulose for the armed forces and commercial market. It sells its products primarily under the Colt, CZ (Ceska zbrojovka), Colt Canada, Colt Optics, Dan Wesson, Sellier & Bellot, swissAA, Spuhr and 4M Tactical brands. The group is also active in the production of energy nitrocellulose through Synthesia Nitrocellulose.
The Estonia-Czechia Business Forum was held in Tallinn in the context of the state visit of Czech President Petr Pavel to Estonia.
